
Henry louis was born on February 5, 1934 in mobile, Alabama. He was born in a poor black part of mobile called "Down the Bay". Henry and his family moved to the middle class Toulminville neighborhood when he was a little boy. from a young age his mind was in the baseball field not his school work. he decided that he should quit school. soon after that in 1951 he played in the Negro Leagues for the indianapolis clowns. after leading his club to victory in the leagues 1952 world series, Aaron was recruited by the Milwaukee Braves for 10,000 dollars. The braves assigned him to one of their farm clubs, Aaron again did not disappoint, getting named northern league rookie of the year. due to an injury in the braves it created a spot for him in outfield. following a good year for Henry. in 1957 Aaron had his breakout season winning the national league MVP award. between 1955-1975 he was voted to the all star team every year. despite putting up outstanding numbers year after year he never got the attention he deserved. he beat the legendary babe ruth record of home runs with his 715th home run. people started sending him nasty letters and death threats. they were sending these letters to him because they did no want to see a black man beat babe Ruth's record. In 1976 at age 42 Henry Aaron retired major league baseball with 755 home runs he has made a record for 24 all star game appearances, won an MVP,a world series championship, and was the all time leader in RBI's. after he retired major league baseball he went to work for the braves, he also became a powerful voice for the rights of minorities in major league baseball. In 1982 he was enshrined in baseballs hall of fame. by 2007 his record was beat by berry bonds. finally after 30 years he got the the attention he deserved.
